GSTR-2 contains the information related to inward supplies (purchases) in the return period. This information is divided in various tables as specified by GST return rules.
Note: Unlike many other GST return software, Octa GST auto-calculates GSTR-2 data using purchase data entered by you. You don't have to know and decide which information needs to be reported in different tables of GSTR-2.
Browsing the Return Data
To view the GSTR-2 data, open GSTR-2 module and click Prepare button and then click Generate Return button. This will open the GSTR-2 screen which shows the summary of all tables. You can check the summary.
You should know each and every aspect of your data being reported in GST return. That is why Octa GST shows you both a summary of data and the ability to drill down within various summary levels to individual invoice(s) from inside the GSTR-2 module.
Generating Return JSON File
IMPORTANT: If you see red bubbles on GSTR-2 home screen, it means action is pending on some documents. Please take appropriate action before generating return (JSON) file otherwise pending documents will not be included in the return.
Once you are satisfied with the data being reported in GSTR-2, click on the Generate File button to generate the file (JSON format) which can be directly uploaded to the GST Portal. If your business data is large and it cannot be accommodated in a single file, Octa GST will automatically split it into multiple files for you.
Uploading Return JSON File to GST Portal
Once the return file (JSON) is generated, you can upload it to GST portal.
- Login to GST Portal
- Open Returns Dashboard
- Click Prepare Offline button in GSTR2 box
- On Upload page, click Choose File button and select the file(s) generated by Octa GST.
IMPORTANT: GST Portal does not refresh the summary data in GSTR2 dashboard automatically after uploading the return JSON file. Please click the Generate GSTR2 Summary button to manually refresh the summary.
